With aging, the skin can lose some of its tone and subside. The first third of the face (forehead, eyebrows) loses in volume and as do the mid face (eyelids, cheek) while bottom third of the face (chin, tip of the nose, neck) gains in loose skin. This phenomenon is part of the aging process. Lines and wrinkles also contribute to create stern facial features. The decent of facial fat can cause jowls at the jaw line.
The face lift consists in restoring a youth appearance of the face. This operation allows firming up the skin by working underneath it, with the muscles of the face, and by stretching the skin then by removing the excess of it.
This intervention can be combined with a liposuction, a blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) or a face-lift of the forehead / eyebrows. To restore of the volume, injections of fat or fillers can be also practised in thinner and/or wrinkled zones.
Scars will be near ears and behind these and will thus be discreet. After the operation, a rest of at least one week is recommended and simple instructions shall be given to optimize the recovery and the appearance of scars.
